It’s important to recognize the emotional layer in our SFT categories of health. During our Environmental series, we discussed the sensitized emotional barrier that can be a factor when dealing with the elements of an environmentally affected person. And today we would like to discuss the emotional tendencies with those hormonally affected. Meaning, any and all of us. We all have hormones running through us and with this new age of a go go go mentality it can be hard to keep them balanced. So regardless of our best intentions of wanting to lead a harmonious life, our hormones imbalances could lead to a lot of emotional turmoil that can truly make us feel crazy. To better understand the emotional component of a hormonally affected individual we need to start by understanding cortisol hormone levels. Whether you know it or not, we all have experienced a fluctuation in our cortisol levels at several different stages in our lives. Regardless of the daily lifestyle choices we make, how we deal with emotions can spike and deplete these cortisol levels and create symptoms of overall imbalance.
Hormones; we all have them and we are all affected by them. Last week we started to dive into the subject of hormones in our skin post but this week we want to talk about the internal support needed for proper balance. This is for all our menstruating friends who were told in middle/high school health classes that you are to grin and bear the symptoms around your periods. We also often get pressure from doctors that prescription medications are the only way to balance and regulate periods and painful symptoms. What if that doesn't resonate with you? Or what if there was another option to choose from? Our food, lifestyle, beauty and household products choice can all have an effect on how our hormones react. Whether you are dealing with infertility, PCOS, or monthly breakouts we believe you can start to heal yourself and restore balance from within. You do not have to suffer through your monthly cycle. By tuning into what our bodies need, making mindful decisions about our food and taking time out for ourselves you can start to manage your monthly flow with ease! Here are 4 key suggestions to jump-start your hormonal balance:
When coming up with the Signature workshop almost 2 years ago, one of the first topics that we wanted to address was hormonal health. You wouldn’t think that an esthetician and nutritionist would be so passionate about this topic but from our own experiences to the increase in conditions affected our clientele, this is a topic we can’t avoid. Most of us have experienced the type of education when it comes to our hormones where it’s split off into two conversations. The first being - “Here is how your body will change and deal with it” and the second being “Sex Education with a focus on abstinence”. Where in all of that do you learn about listening to your body and how to support yourself? The major issue is that hormone health often misses the point and leads men and women to their own devices when trying to connect the dots in their health imbalances.
Summer is officially over and as we shift into the new season we are excited to be wrapping up 2017 with a new intention. With each year that passes, one cycle that seems to repeatedly occur starting in fall is that we slowly start to let go of our health habits. Anytime the year starts to wrap up there are so many opportunities to lose your way when it comes to your health. Whether it’s your nutrition, exercise or even your self-care - the non-stop events of the end of the year festivities can set us back to square one with our health goals. Setting an intention is sort of like starting a new year’s resolution, so if you don’t do it right you may end up forgetting the purpose behind it to begin with. So once the new year actually starts we end up feeling sluggish and shamed for our fall and holiday time festivities. In order to maintain a nice balance without the guilt, we want to set an intention with you. Here are a few things we want to continue into the last quarter of the year.
